The GE Edison Challenge is an open innovation challenge for the university student community in India, organized by the GE India Technology Centre (GEITC). This is an exciting technical competition where your imagination, analytical skills and technical expertise will be challenged and stretched. GEITC started the GE Edison Challenge as part of its University Relations program to promote technology and product innovation and encourage young minds towards research and development. Participants will be competing with India’s finest technical minds and will have the opportunity to present their mettle before senior scientists and engineers from GE as well as innovation thought leaders from the industry.
About General Electric (GE): General Electric (GE) is an American multinational conglomerate corporation incorporated in New York, and headquartered in Fairfield, Connecticut. As of 2015, the company operates through the following segments: Appliances, Power and Water, Oil and Gas, Energy Management, Aviation, Healthcare, Transportation and Capital which cater to the needs of Home Appliances, Financial services, Medical device, Life Sciences, Pharmaceutical, Automotive, Software Development and Engineering industries.
Who can participate: Full time Bachelors/Masters/Doctoral students of accredited Indian educational institutions above 18 years of age are eligible to participate. You will have to participate as a team. A team must consist of a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 4 students from the same institute, from at least 3 different disciplines/departments.
Prizes: The winning team will receive an award of Rs. 2 lakhs and incubation grant of Rs. 8 lakhs for their university and one runner-up team will receive an award of Rs. 1 lakh and incubation grant of Rs. 4 lakhs for their university.
The top 25 finalist teams will get an opportunity to visit GE John F. Welch Technology Centre in Bangalore and see the R&D labs, interact with GE experts and attend a Predix platform workshop during their visit.
The last date to register this year is January 17, 2016.
