Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing India (GHCI): Hackathon and Scholarships

In addition, it is also offering a number of student scholarships under the Grace Hopper Scholarship program for the forthcoming 2015 conference in Bangalore, from December 2-4, 2015. The scholarship for women students is a great opportunity to attend GHCI and connect with other women in computing and innovative organizations, learn from peers and experts and get quality career advice specific to your needs.

1) Hackathons: This is a great opportunity to interact and code with other women students and industry professionals from computing and technology backgrounds. During the Hackathon the participants will work on ideas/projects that have a social impact.

You need to participate as a team of minimum five people and maximum seven people. Even if all members can’t make it, at least some of them should be physically present in the city rounds.

Format and Locations: The hackathon will be conducted as a contest over two rounds. The first round will be conducted in five different cities (Bangalore, Hyderabad, Madurai, New Delhi and Pune). The top finalists selected from the first round, will present their applications at the grand finale. This round will be held at the largest technical conference for women in India – the Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing India (GHCI) 2015 in Bangalore during 2-4 December, 2015. The winning teams will be chosen by a panel of judges at the grand finale during GHCI 2015.

2) Scholarships: Scholarship recipients also get access to GHCI’s Student Career Fair (for women students only) where bright and dynamic students can meet top recruiters from global technology companies. Students can explore internships as well as full-time job opportunities.

Who can apply: GHCI scholarships are awarded to deserving women undergraduate and graduate students in computing and IT.

Scholarship Amount: A full scholarship covers conference registration, a shared hotel room with one other scholarship recipient for up to two nights (check in December 2, 2015 and check out December 4, 2015), meals during the conference and travel expense reimbursement up to a certain amount. We also award partial scholarships that cover some of these expenses.

Number of Scholarships: Around 130 full and partial scholarships.
