Uninor is the Indian subsidiary of Telenor Group, a telecommunications company headquartered in Oslo, Norway. Every year it organizes a Telenor Youth Summit in Oslo, Norway at Telenor HQ and the Nobel Peace Center. The event coincides with the Nobel Peace Prize event in December. Telenor Youth Summit is a gathering of leaders from the millennial generation – young people born into technology who now use it to effect social change. The summit strives to use the collective wisdom of these societal leaders to address social and economic challenges through mobile technology, such as how mobile phones and Internet fuel growth, bring change and create opportunities for all. And each year Uninor sends one male and one female participant to represent India at the summit.
The theme for this year’s contest is ‘Education’. The contest will identify cool apps and startups that have the potential to lead us to a more informed and educated world population, transforming and empowering societies. This is the second consecutive year of the contest.
And the aim of the competition is to engage and select the best mobile application in India that can be featured on a global platform to compete for the “Best App in Asia” contest to be held at the Digital Winners’ conference in Oslo, Norway.
Who can participate: This contest is open to Indian nationals/entities.
The contest will remain open till August 10, 2015.
The judges will shortlist the ten best app amongst all the entries received. If your app is shortlisted, our team will get in touch with you between August 11 – August 25, 2015 by email and/or phone.
Top 10 finalist/entries will meet in Delhi on August 31, 2015 to present their apps to an eminent jury and the winner will be declared the same day. The lodging, boarding and travel expenses will be borne by Uninor if the shortlisted candidate is from outside Delhi.
Prizes: The winning app of India contest gets the following:
- The winner of the Best App in Asia at Oslo will be rewarded a cash prize of NOK 100,000 to be reinvested for further development and support from Telenor’s global digital team.
- Will represent India at the Best App in Asia Contest to be held at Oslo, Norway.
- Will be showcased at the Digital Winners global platform represented by leading industry experts.
- Will be provided mentorship and assistance by Uninor’s team for marketing and developing the app further for commercial/mass market.
- Will be part of special promotions and publicity by Uninor.
