The Industrial Technology Research Institute is a nonprofit research and development (R&D) organization engaging in applied research and technical services originated from Taiwan. Founded in 1973, ITRI has played a vital role in transforming Taiwan’s economy from a labor-intensive industry to a high-tech industry. Numerous well-known, high-tech companies in Taiwan, such as leaders in the semiconductor industry TSMC and UMC, can trace their origins to ITRI.
Each summer ITRI hosts about 30 international students for internships of 2-3 months. ITRI also offers a limited number of longer internships of 4-6 months duration during spring, summer, and fall.
Who can apply: This ITRI Taiwan internship program is open to undergraduate and graduate students currently enrolled at accredited 4-year colleges and universities.
If you have already graduated, or will graduate before the end date of your internship, then you are not eligible for internship.
Research Areas: Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Marketing, Mass Communications and Human Resources (HR).
You can check all the internships jobs which have been posted here on this page. To check the list of all internship profiles, select “Intern” in the job field’s dropdown and then search for jobs. Once you do this, you will find a list of 23 internships. Check all the internship description carefully and apply for as many internships as you want and are interested in.
Location: Hsinchu, Taiwan.
Duration: The interns should be available to work for at least 10 weeks in the period from May to September. Longer internships of 4-6 months duration are also possible; dates can be flexible depending on student and department needs.
The internship dates are flexible depending on student and department needs, and are decided case-by-case when acceptance offers are made.
- Monthly stipend (before taxes): NT $24,000 – NT $36,000 per month, depending on student’s experience and department’s situation; if you are offered a position, the offer will specify the stipend and other details.
- Free on-site accommodation on ITRI campus – modern dormitories on a spacious campus with dining and recreational facilities.
Unless otherwise specified in your offer, interns will be responsible for their travel expenses to and from ITRI’s Taiwan campuses and no compensation in the form of airfare for most internships will be paid.
However the interns are responsible for their travel expenses to and from ITRI’s Taiwan campus.
Please note that these internships are rolling internships, hence the internship will be closed once they find a suitable candidate. So you are advised to apply ASAP. The earlier you apply, the better. These internships don’t have a specific deadline and the institute (ITRI Taiwan) will remove positions as they are filled, so if a position is posted that means application is still open. The applications for most positions will close at the end of February and they hope to inform all decisions by the end of March.
