SN Bose Scholars Program is an international internship program that can help you get a research internship at one of the best American universities. It is a joint initiative between the Science & Engineering Board (SERB), Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India, the Indo-US Science and Technology Forum (IUSSTF) and the University of Wisconsin-Madison (UW).
The program is envisaged to:
- provide an opportunity to Indian students to experience world-class research facilities in leading US institutions;
- encourage and motivate students to take up research as a career;
- pave the way for the next generation of pioneers and innovators in science and technology to interact with each other, and;
- build long-term R&D linkages and collaborations cutting across boundaries around the globe.
Who can apply: Indian citizens currently pursuing a Bachelors or Masters’ degree at a recognized college/university can apply for SN Bose Scholars Program. Only those candidates who shall be completing their degree program on or after May 2018 are eligible to apply. The target audience are pre-final year Bachelor and Master students.
As per instructions from IUSSTF, only top two rank holders from each department can apply. The departments of the various IITs and other colleges have been contacted to endorse top two rank from the departments. In case these two top two rank holders do not apply, then others can apply. Check this notification.
Streams: Natural Science (Physics, Chemistry, Math) and Computer Science, Chemical Engineering, Energy Sciences, Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Sciences, Atmospheric and Earth Sciences etc.
Location: Various host universities in the United States like the MIT, University of Wisconsin-Madison in Madison, Wisconsin, University of Illinois – Urbana-Champaign, University of Iowa, University of Michigan etc.
Duration: 10-12 weeks (May-July 2017)
Stipend: $2000 + roundtrip airfare + health insurance. These are fully funded internships. You will get a stipend enough to cover your airfare, accommodation, VISA and other expenses.
